We are completely excited to offer a product that safely and securely straps a child carrier into a shopping cart. KartStraps offer a whole new level of safety and security to children in car carriers when parents place the carrier in a shopping cart.
Typically, placing the infant car carrier isn't recommended. In fact, car seat carrier manufactures specifically tell users not to place the car carrier in the top basket / toddler seating area of a shopping cart (grocery trolley, depending on what part of the country you're in).
Manufacturers warn against placing the car carrier in the shopping cart top basket because there is no mechanism to secure the carrier to the cart, and the car carrier could be knocked off the cart, causing major injury to the infant. There is also concern about the car seat locking mechanism being damaged.
However, when the infant car carrier is properly strapped to the grocery cart, the cart isn't top heavy, and the arrangement is secure. The product is designed to utilize the bottom rails that are made to sit on a flat surface when placed on the top of the shopping cart. So there is no damage to the infant car seat!
Using this safety product does not damage the infant car carrier in any way, and it's safe for a child to ride in the cart while it's in use.
The product was developed by Jason Robinson, who worked as risk management officer for a national big box retailer in the US for 20+ years. The product is made in the US.
